Basic Life Support (BLS): for Healthcare Providers

Program Training Plan
The BLS for Health care Providers course is designed to provide a wide variety of certified or non-certified, licensed or non-licensed, health care professionals with the skills to keep people alive until they can be brought to a hospital or be treated with more advanced lifesaving measures. This course covers: adult and pediatric CPR, two-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag-valve masks, foreign-body airway obstruction, automated external defibrillation, special resuscitation situations, stroke and cardiac arrest, and other cardiopulmonary emergencies.

Program Length
6 Hour Course • 1 DayCourse Prerequisites
• Students must be 16 years of age or older to enroll in BLS Certification.
• A maximum of 18 students per session and a minimum of 6 students is required to carry the class. If the enrollment numbers are not met the course dates, times, and locations may be changed or the course may be dropped.

COURSE SCHEDULE AND AVAILABILITY:
This 6 hour course is a single day course that is available on the first Saturday of every month throughout the year, as long as minimum enrollment numbers are met. Dates may vary depending on events and holidays; therefore the course may be held on the second Saturday of the month.

CERTIFICATION CARD:
Students will receive a certification card from the American Heart Association, along with a MATC Recognition of Training Certificate, as proof of their training. The cost of the AHA card is included in the course fees.
