Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers

Program Training Plan

The BLS for Health care Providers course is designed to provide a wide variety of certified or noncertified, licensed or non-licensed, health care professionals with the skills to keep people alive until they can be brought to a hospital or be treated with more advanced lifesaving measures. This course covers: adult and pediatric CPR, two-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag-valve masks, foreign-body airway obstruction, automated external defibrillation, special resuscitation situations, stroke and cardiac arrest, and other cardiopulmonary emergencies.

Course Prerequisites

• A maximum of 18 students per session and a minimum of 6 students is required to carry the class.
Enrollment Available to:
Adults, high school seniors & juniors
• Students must be 16 years of age or older, to enroll in CPR Certification or Heartsaver First Aid Certification.
This course is intended for:
• Physicians
• Nurses
• Paramedics
• Emergency medical technicians
• Physician assistants
• Residents for fellows
• Respiratory, physical, and occupational therapists
• Medical or nursing students in training
• Aides, medical or nursing assistants, and other allied health personnel
• First responders, such as police officers and firefighters
• Laypeople whose work brings them into contact with members of the public.
