Automotive Fundamentals

Program Training Plan

The Fundamentals course introduces students to the safe use of chemicals, hand tools, power tools, protective clothing and equipment, fire protection, shop equipment, EPA and OSHA regulations, customer relations, repair order, time, cost estimation, and ordering of parts.

Course Prerequisites

Automotive Fundamentals is a prerequisite to enrolling in either of the following programs: Automotive Engines and/or Automotive Vehicle Performance. A waiver may be obtained by meeting with the instructor.

All students are required to take the ABLE test. This test can be taken at MATC for free and takes about an hour to complete.

• This program is available to high school juniors, seniors, and adults.
• Student must have a valid driver’s license.

A minimum enrollment count of 8 students per calss must be reached or class will be canceled.
